Spanish Bread

It is a delicious and sweet soft bread roll with a buttery and sugary filling, then rolled in bread crumbs to create a lightly crunchy coating, and baked to golden perfection.

The Spaniards have introduced this type of bread in the Philippines. Then, the Filipinos adopted this bread and love it as their own. With Filipinos’ creativity, different varieties, shapes, and fillings of bread were developed.

These sweet and delicious Filipino Spanish bread rolls can actually be eaten any time of the day with a cup of a drink of your choice. This Filipino bread recipe with a sweet filling can be a bit time-consuming, but definitely worth the time and effort. Give this a try!

Procedure

Combine all the filling ingredients and set them aside. 

Place all the ingredients (except for the breadcrumbs) in a mixing bowl and mix until a rough dough forms. Next, place the dough hook attachment and knead for 12 minutes, then transfer the dough to a greased bowl, cover with cling film, and allow it to rest for 1 hour in a warm area. Punch down the dough, then divide the dough into 12 equal portions and roll to form a round shape: 

Flatten the round dough balls using a rolling pin 5 inches in length. Scoop out the filling and place it at the center of the dough:

Roll like a cigar, then roll the dough on the breadcrumbs, place it on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Next, cover the dough with cling film, and allow the dough to rest for 1 hour or until doubled:

Bake in the oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 15 minutes. Then, allow it to cool before serving:
